This is an interesting video to watch this video before building a wood fence. There is some good information. I am always into learn for the next time so I can do a better job. The instructor has found on of the biggest problems with a wood fence are the wood posts can start to decay or get hit by termites.

This video suggests that you can paint the bottom of your wood fence post with a roofing tar and then install the wood post. This should enable your fence to have many years of a maintenance free fence.
